Mil-Jeanne flowers has been in the Portage la Prairie community for the past 65 years, over the last 35 years it has been owned and operated by the Pettinger family. Larry Pettinger began at Mil-Jeanne Flowers in 1975 and purchased the small flower shop along with his wife Doreen when the opportunity arose. Since the family took over it has grown from much more then just flowers, a wide variety of gift ware, home decor, jewellery and clothing are just a few of the additions made over recent years.
Most recently Mil-Jeanne Flowers & Axcenz was purchased by Kyle & Alicia Pettinger in April of 2014, hoping to carry on the reputation that has been built by many years of hard work and loyal customers.
Larry states: “Our business has continued to grow over the years, so much so, that we had to move to our present location at 106 Saskatchewan Ave E to accommodate our ever expanding lines of gift ware. However, flowers and plants continue to be a large part of our business. We like to boast that we have some of the most talented designers in the world. We have two part time staff including our daughter Krista who joined Mil-Jeanne’s in 2007. Then in 2010, our son, Kyle, joined our staff and has moved here with his wife and son. In 2006, our store officially became “Mil Jeanne Flowers & Axcenz” to include our expanded lines.”
